Cultural Education

The mission of Providence College "recognizes the unity of the human family that proceeds from its one Creator.  It therefore encourages the deepest respect for the essential dignity, freedom, and equality of every person and welcomes qualified women and men from all religious, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. Providence College prepares its students to be responsible and productive citizens to serve in their own society and the greater world community.”

The Office of Cultural Education creates opportunities for students to meaningfully engage and dialogue across differences and thereby increase their cultural competence in their residence halls, classrooms, on the field, on campus, and for their future vocation. We also provide support and encouragement for social justice advocacy as it pertains to diversity and grounded in Catholic social teaching.

We are committed to collaborating with faculty, staff, administration, and student leaders by planning and promoting programs and activities for students to learn about and value difference, cultivate and practice curiosity and compassion through listening, asking questions and sharing stories, and to take initiative for action and advocacy framed by the lens and traditions of the Catholic Church.

All students are welcome to connect with, participate in and be involved with our programs and events. Our ultimate vision is to create opportunities for students to broaden and deepen their cultural agility through inclusive excellence.
