Residence Hall Closing Information

Campus Housing closes on Monday, May 12th at 7:00pm.

Resident students are required to vacate campus housing within 24 hours after their last exam. With the exception of students who have received permission to stay on campus for Commencement Week.  Please visit for http://www.providence.edu/residence-life/Pages/commencementhousing.aspx commencement week housing information.

Any student found to be occupying campus housing without prior authorization will be assessed a $200 per day fee, subject to further disciplinary action, and may be removed from housing immediately.

Prior to moving from their assigned housing, resident students are required to attend a floor meeting conducted by a member of the Office of Residence Life. At this meeting, students will receive information to ensure an easy checkout process, including a Checklist for Move Out . Each student is required to post this checklist on their room, suite, or apartment door after they have fully vacated the space.

As stated in the Providence College Student Handbook:

“Rooms will be inspected at the beginning of each academic year and whenever a new student moves into a room. At these times, an inventory form will be signed by the occupants. A second inspection, at the end of the year, will be compared with the original inventory form as a basis for assessing any damages. Except for normal wear and tear, costs for all damages will be assigned to the residents of a room. Whenever possible, damage costs will be assessed to the individual causing the damages. When that cannot be determined, occupants of a room shall be held equally responsible for damages occurring in the room. The cost of repairing damage to common areas for which no responsible individuals or group can be identified will be equally divided among the residents of the corridor or the residents of the building. Bills for damages will be issued throughout the year and unpaid bills shall constitute indebtedness to the College as set forth in the College catalog.”

Students wishing to review their room condition must email an appointment request to their respective hall/complex director no later than 48 hours prior to moving out. Students will receive a confirmation email from their hall/complex director with the checkout appointment date and time. Students must be present with the room cleaned and cleared of their belongings when the assigned staff member arrives for the appointment. Please note that additional charges may be assessed after the room inventory form is signed.

Students are asked to donate clothing and non-perishable food items to the designated donation drop-off locations within each residence hall.

All resident students are urged to contact the Office of Residence Life with any questions.
