Club Sports​

A proud history of varsity golf is now carried on in the form of a club sport.  The men and women on the team compete in the National Collegiate Club Golf Association as well as other major college golf tournaments around New England.  Each spring the team travels south to compete in tournaments over spring recess.  The team calls Wannamoisett Country Club its home course.  Other facilities available to the team are Newport CC, Rhode Island CC, Warwick CC, Agawam Hunt, Cranston CC, Pawtucket CC, Triggs Memorial GC, BAY Pointe Club, Button Hole and the Atlantic Golf Center.

SEPTEMBER 7-8    The team finished 6th out of 13 teams at the Bowdoin Invitational

SEPTEMBER 29      Providence College won the New England(CCGA) Club Championship at the Cocheco CC.  Mike Hanley 15' (Rockville Center,NY.) led the team to victory and was co-medalist with a score of 71 

OCTOBER 5-6   The Friars win again !  The golf team took 1st place in the first NCCGA New England Regional qualifier at the Winnapuag GC.  Jamie Ferullo (Rochester,NH.) was the individual champion with a 2-day total of 149 which included a 6 under 30 on his final 9 holes.  Also named to the All Tournament team were Rick Darst (Hingham,MA.)151, Mike Hanley(Rockvile Center,NY.) 151, Mike Nowosadko(Glastonbury,CT.) 158 , Dave Szewczul(Farmington,CT.)  161 and Stephan Krall (Duxbury,MA.) 161 

OCTOBER 19-20 The Friars are headed to the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP !!!  The golf team won there 3rd tournament in a row at the final NCCGA regional qualifying at the Cold Spring CC.  Joe DeChirico 17' (W.Hartford,CT.) led the team to victory with a two day total of 155.  Also named to the all-tournament team were Mike Pierard 14' (Rumford,RI.) 159, Jamie Ferullo 15' 162, and Dave Szewczul 17' 164.

OCTOBER 27-28      Providence won the inaugural Club Division and finished 9th out of 38 teams at the New England Intercollgiate Golf Championship played at the Captains Course. 

NOVEMBER 16-17   The team traveled to the Barefoot Resort in South Carolina and played in the NCCGA Nantional Championship. The team finished in 11 th place out of 24 teams that had qualified.  Jamie Ferullo tied for 13th place individually with a score of 153. The final results are available at NCCGA.ORG
