Friar Development Center

Project Overview:

This project includes approximately 4.5 acres of land from Slavin Center to the Phillips Memorial Library, the Ruane Center for the Humanities and from the Harkins Hall to the Aquinas Quad. The objective was to remove the section of Donnelly Drive that connected from Harkins circle to the drop-off area at the Concannon Fitness Center and reorganize pedestrian circulation to enlarge and enhance the main green space on the campus. The walkways allow pedestrians to flow through the green space to popular campus destinations. A new plaza at the back of Harkins Hall serves as a crossroads for these pathways and a place for students to gather between classes. In addition, the drop-off circle at Aquinas Quad has been enhanced to promote pedestrian travel and minimize vehicular traffic.
