Providence College makes PROMISE to Rising HS Seniors​​

​Providence, R.I. - Providence PROMISE Program motivates students and gets them on the path to college. Starting Tuesday, July 5, the Providence PROMISE Program at Providence College will provide 21 rising Providence high school students the opportunity to see what it is like to be a college student. As a way to experience what transitioning into college means, these students will, twice a week over the next five weeks, take classes and discover what it is like to do academic research, speak in front of their fellow students, complete critical reading and thinking exercises, and manage their time effectively.

Providence, R.I. – Providence College Associate Professor of Economics Dr. Angela Dills has co-authored a report​ that finds ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft lower the rate of fatal accidents, DUI arrests, disorderly conduct and assaults. The report says that the public safety benefits of ride-sharing services are also helping those demographics most likely to be involved in these potential traffic tragedies – Smartphone users aged 25 – 44 who are also Uber’s primary users..​

Providence, R.I. – Providence College ​​affirmed today that it will close permanently the College-owned portion of Huxley Ave. (Eaton Street to Ventura Street) to all vehicular traffic on Wednesday, May 18th. PC had previously announced in February its intention to close the College-owned portion of the street sometime between May 15th and June 1st.

Heather Abbott to Deliver Providence College Commencement Address 


Providence, R.I. – Heather Abbott ’03G, whose injuries in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing led her to establish a foundation which helps amputees obtain prosthetic devices, will present the Commencement Address at Providence College’s Ninety-Eighth Commencement Exercises on Sunday, May 15, 2016. The ceremony will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, 1 La Salle Square, Providence, R.I.
