Email Security and Phishing Scams

A phishing scam is an attempt to extract information that is not normally shared. Phishing scams mostly occur in e-mails where the address and e-mail may be masked to look as though it is from an authentic source. The information ranges from personally identifiably information such as social security numbers or bank accounts to passwords and credit card numbers.

Please remember that Providence College will never ask you for your password.

If you suspect a phishing scam please forward the e-mail to helpdesk@providence.edu.

If you have a technology related question or problem, please contact the Help Desk at x4357.
