Community Partners

"I believe that service is required of all people because a community that is divided cannot bring about justice." - Megan MacQueen '09

Community Partners are representatives of local community-based organizations who work closely with the Feinstein Institute's students and faculty to ensure that our service experiences address actual needs within the community.

Goals for Community Partnerships

  • Partners commit to joint, long term planning for common goals, which are regularly assessed
  • Common goals of partnership are clearly delineated, whether in writing or informally (Including minimum time commitment and resources)
  • Partnership commits to assessing impact and program evaluation, including continuous dialogue and reflection between Community Partner, Service-Learning Coordinator, Faculty, and Students
  • Strong focus on benefits to a specific community (Particularly Smith Hill but also Olneyville, South Providence, and neighborhoods with high population of residents with low socioeconomic status)
  • Partners agree to jointly support student learning and development, including development of course learning objectives and/or Public Service Competencies
  • Partners agree to collaborate on research, teaching, and fundraising when appropriate
