Registration Procedures

Web Registration System - CYBERFRIAR

Providence College uses Web Registration via the ellucian¬© Web for Students product (named CyberFriar).  Internet Explorer is the recommended browser for this product, however, if your computer is running Windows 8, we suggest using either the Mozilla Firefox or the Google Chrome browser.  Though other browsers will work, you may have to adjust your browser settings in order to view pages properly.  If you experience any technical problems, please contact Information Technology at x4357.  If you experience any registration issues please contact the Office of Enrollment Services located in Harkins Hall, Room 310 or call x 1033.

The Providence College Course Catalog and the Course Offerings for an upcoming registration term will always be available at the main CyberFriar homepage listed above.  You do not need to be logged into the product to access this information.  These two tools will be helpful in seeing what courses will be offered in a given term and for learning about specific course details and any registration restrictions that will assist you in the building of a schedule for that term.  In order to see current enrollment information on courses or to create/adjust your actual schedule you must log into the CyberFriar system with your Banner ID and PIN.  Information  on how to use the system follows.

Logging into CyberFriar

 

 

  1. Log onto Cyberfriar from any computer with internet access to http://cyberfriar.providence.edu/
  2. Enter your nine-digit Banner Identification Number, and Personal PIN.  Please refer to the CyberFriar FAQ document or contact the Office of Enrollment Services located in Harkins 310 or call x1033 for issues regarding you student log on to the Banner system.
  3. Click on the Student Services and Financial Aid menu, then select Registration & Fees, and then select ADD/DROP Classes
  4. Choose the appropriate term that you wish to use in your web session, then click on submit term.  Return to this page and change the term any time you plan to look at or adjust a different term's registration detail.
  5. Enter your Registration Alternate PIN for verification, then click submit.  You should obtain this registration PIN from your assigned faculty advisor.
  6. Once on the Add/Drop classes page.  enter your CRNs  (course reference numbers) into the Add Class box.  You must enter the CRNs in order of your registration preference.
  7. When finished, click on SUBMIT CHANGES to submit your requests.  If there are any scheduling errors they will be displayed at the bottom of the page.
  8. To VERIFY and PRINT your schedule, return to the REGISTRATION menu (button at top right).  There are two pages where your student schedule can be viewed and printed.  You may access by going to the STUDENT SCHEDULE BY DAY and TIME or the STUDENT DETAIL SCHEDULE.  It may be necessary to change your browser page setup to Landscape instead of Portrait to accommodate for extra-long fields.
  9. EXIT CYBERFRIAR by clicking on EXIT at the top right of the page.  For maximum security, you should always close your browser.

 

Look-up Classes to Add and Course Availability

 

 
  1. From the Student menu, click LOOK-UP CLASSES TO ADD.  (If you have not already done so, select the TERM you wish to use.)
  2. Select the criteria that you want to use in your search.  You must select at least one SUBJECT.  To choose all subjects, hold down the SHIFT key and use your mouse to select the first and last subject in the drop down box.  To choose some subjects hold down the CTRL key and use you mouse to highlight the various subjects that you wish to view.
  3. Classes returned with a CHECKBOX on the left column are open for registration.  To register, click other CHECKBOX and then click the REGISTER button at the bottom of the page.  If prompted, enter the REGISTRATION PIN that you received from your advisor.  If there are any scheduling errors they will be displayed at the bottom of the page.
  4. Classes returned with the letter "C" in the left column are CLOSED.
  5. If classes are returned without a CHECKBOX then you are not allowed to register at the present time.  However, you can still check COURSE AVAILABILITY by scrolling completely to the RIGHT of the page.  A "C" will always display when a course is closed even when it is not your time to register.
  6.
